Tremor stands as the most prevalent movement disorder globally, affecting nearly one in ten individuals aged over 60.  Tremor current has no "cure" and a severe quality-of-life impact, making simple activities of living (e.g. eating, dressing, grooming, etc.) difficult or impossible. We will develop and clinically test a simple wearable armband that senses and suppresses tremor by delivering sensory (electrical stimulation to the forearm or wrist. We will record both the electrical (electromyography, EMG) and mechanical (mechanomyography, MMG) muscle activity, using this data to implement a closed-loop stimulation algorithm. This algorithm will dynamically personalize the stimulation in real-time, tailored to the individual's specific tremor characteristics. Finally, we will test the tremor suppression prototype on a clinical trial in Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s Disease patients.
